Salus University Pennsylvania College of Optometry professor Joseph Toland OD ’54, MD, passed away on Sunday, December 4. In his announcement, President Mittelman—a student of Dr. Toland—called him a true icon, advocate, activist and leader who played a pivotal role in ensuring optometrists were able to practice at the levels at which they were being taught.
In reflection and recognition of the continuing success of the Looking Out for Kids program, Salus University has created the Lighthouse Award for stellar, selfless, path finding community service and we are pleased to announce the inaugural recipient is The Honorable Risa Vetri Ferman.
