University Accreditation

On June 27, 2024, the Middle States Commission on Higher Education acknowledged receipt of Salus University's complex substantive change request that included the merger of Salus University with Drexel University. The closing of the merger of Salus University with Drexel University occurred on June 30, 2024, and Drexel University is the surviving institution. Salus University's accreditation ceased on September 30, 2025. As of October 1, 2025, Salus University is no longer accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education www.msche.org.

Programmatic Accreditations

Pennsylvania College of Optometry:

• The Accreditation Council on Optometric Education (ACOE) has granted Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Drexel University the accreditation status of “Accredited.” Accredited is a classification granted to an educational program indicating that the program generally meets the Standards for accreditation. • All residency programs affiliated with Pennsylvania College of Optometry hold the status of “Accredited” or are applicants seeking an initial accreditation status from the Accreditation Council on Optometric Education (ACOE) (for more information, contact the ACOE. website: www.theacoe.org; email: accredit@theacoe.org).

Osborne Audiology Department:

• The clinical Doctor of Audiology (AuD) program [on-campus/ residential] at Drexel University Osborne Audiology Department is accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) from July 1, 2019 through June 30, 2027.

College of Health Sciences, Education and Rehabiliation:

• The Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) has granted Accreditation-Continued status to the Salus at Drexel University Physician Assistant (PA) Program sponsored by Drexel University. Accreditation-Continued is an accreditation status granted when a currently accredited program is in compliance with the ARC-PA Standards. Accreditation remains in effect until the program closes or withdraws from the accreditation process or until accreditation is withdrawn for failure to comply with the Standards. The approximate date for the next validation review of the program by the ARC-PA will be March 2034. The review date is contingent upon continued compliance with the Accreditation Standards and ARC-PA policy.
• The University's Master of Science in Occupational Therapy (MSOT)​ degree program is fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) through 2025-2026. • The Master of Science in Orthotics & Prosthetics degree program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (www.caahep.org) upon the recommendation of the National Commission on Orthotic and Prosthetic Education (NCOPE). The next evaluation of the program is scheduled to occur no later than 2029. • The Master of Science (MS) Education Program in Speech-Language Pathology [residential] at Drexel University is accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, 2200 Research Boulevard, #310, Rockville, MD 20850, 800.498.2071 or 301.296.5700. The next review will be in 2031.

Global, Interprofessional, and Specialized Programming:

• Blindness and Low Vision Studies Programs:
  • The Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments program has received Approved Certification Program status by the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE), 333 Market Street Harrisburg, PA 17126, 717-783-6788. PDE evaluates program providers in a seven-year cycle as mandated by 22 Pa. Code § 49.13(d) to provide all stakeholders in the Commonwealth with assurance of program quality and professional educator competency.
  • The Orientation and Mobility, Vision Rehabilitation Therapy, and Low Vision Rehabilitation programs have full accreditation status by the AER Accreditation Council (AERAC) of the Association for Education and Rehabilitation of the Blind and Visually Impaired (AER), 5680 King Centre Drive, Suite 600 Alexandria, VA 22315. University and college programs that are fully accredited have demonstrated, through performance, systems, processes, faculty and procedures, that they offer a high-quality learning experience and preparation for jobs and certifications. The next review for Orientation and Mobility and Vision Rehabilitation Therapy will be in 2022-23 (self-study currently under review). The next review for Low Vision Rehabilitation will be in 2026.
