May 17, 2018: Collaborative Precepting: Our Vision, Your Implementation - A Workshop Designed for Audiologists

Course Overview
Supervised clinical training continues to be a core requirement of the profession of Audiology as well as other professions. However, the skill set needed to provide such supervision is different from the skills needed to be an excellent clinician. This three hour CEU event will provide insight and instruction through lecture and case-based scenarios. This program’s learning objectives include:

1. Review the qualifications and characteristics needed to be an effective preceptor
2. Debunk common myths in precepting
3. Identify specific practice types needed
4. Identify the benefits of precepting to the preceptor and facility 5. Review the responsibilities of training programs to support preceptors

In order for optometrists to apply for a license in New Jersey, the applicant must complete 24 hours of lecture and pass a written examination and take 6 hours of CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer (must obtain on their own). Once the optometrist has successfully completed the requirements, Salus University will report the successful completion to the New Jersey Board of Optometry.

This presentation will fulfill the Pennsylvania child abuse requirements for license renewal for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology (June 2018), Occupational Therapy (June 2019), Optometry (November, 2018), Physician Assistant (December 2018) and the Anniversary Year (as applicable) for the Teachers of Students who are visually impaired.

Opioid Education for Optometrists
3:00 - 5:00 p.m.

In order for optometrists with OEG or OET license classifications to renew their licenses for the next renewal period, Pennsylvania optometrists must complete at least two hours of continuing education in pain management, the identification of addiction or the practices of prescribing or dispensing opioids. The continuing education will count towards the total number of continuing education credits required for renewal. It will not count towards the 6 hours required to maintain therapeutic certification.
