From August 9-16, 16 of the University’s Pennsylvania College of Optometry (PCO) students who are members of Students in Optometric Service to Humanity (SOSH) along with Drs. Laine Higa, assistant professor, and Harpreet Minhas, instructor, traveled to Haiti where they provided nearly 1,000 comprehensive eye exams.
From now through October 9, the University’s D’Arrigo Family Gallery is showcasing artwork from three Philadelphia area mixed-media artists, Tom Herbert, Blanche Levitt Torphy and Elynne Rosenfeld.
On August 21, students, faculty and staff members gathered together to witness the historic solar eclipse. Donning their specialized glasses, courtesy of the Pennsylvania College of Optometry dean Dr. Melissa Trego, the crowd turned their gaze to the sky and caught glimpses of the moon crossing in between the sun and the Earth.
From August 14-17, Salus University welcomed its largest class to date during its annual Orientation Week. Orientation marks a special time for the incoming students as they begin their educational journeys to become professional healthcare providers and as they orient themselves both on and off campus.
For the first time, Salus hosted its White Coat Ceremony at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts. As the venue is also used for Spring Commencement, the stage in the Center’s Verizon Hall now marks two monumental celebrations for Salus students – the transition from student to healthcare provider and the transition to a practicing professional.
