On the afternoon of Monday, February 5, the newly renovated, expanded and aptly renamed College of Education and Rehabilitation (CER) Lab was unveiled to the University community.
Students in the University’s Pennsylvania College of Optometry (PCO) start a limited primary care externship rotation during the final quarter of the third year. During the fourth year, students have three additional rotations with an emphasis on ocular diseases, contact lenses and interprofessional health care within hospital settings.
Spencer Lin ‘19OD has been named the recipient of the Bernard Maitenaz Scholarship presented annually by the American Optometric Association (AOA) and Optometry Cares – The AOA Foundation.
This November, 17 students began their studies at the first optometry program in Haiti thanks to the recent collaboration between l’Universite d’Etat d’Haiti (UEH), Brien Holden Vision Institute, Optometry Giving Sight, Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity (VOSH) International and Charity Vision with support from the University of Montreal.
Friends, family, former residents and colleagues gathered on the evening of Monday, January 22 to celebrate the retirement of Bernard H. Blaustein, OD, FAAO, affectionately known as “Uncle Bernie,” at The Eye Institute’s (TEI) Oak Lane campus.
