Latest Lunch and Learn Provides Overview of Diabetes’ and Macular Degeneration’s Effects on Vision
On Wednesday, April 19, Dr. Carlo Pelino, chief of The Eye Institute’s Chestnut Hill office
, presented at the latest Lunch and Learn Series held at the Ambler Area YMCA. He explained how diabetes and an age-related eye condition, macular degeneration, can affect vision.
Dr. Pelino provided an overview of the signs and types of macular degeneration and diabetes. He also emphasized the importance of genetic testing for macular degeneration as it is hereditary. In addition, he shared tips about how to lessen the impact of diabetes on overall health and vision.
