On the evening of October 18, CityLife Oak Lane hosted an open house event, complete with hors d'oeuvres, a live jazz band and tours of the modern facility, to welcome the community. CityLife Oak Lane is located within The Eye Institute
, the main optometric clinical facility for Salus University’s Pennsylvania College of Optometry.
Salus President Dr. Michael H. Mittelman thought the open house was a perfect opportunity to introduce the wide variety of services available at CityLife Oak Lane for its neighbors.
“It was great to have the community involvement and be able to showcase what the clinic can bring to the community,” he said.
The facility features a unique lounge-style reception area complete with light refreshments and a section for children to read and play. The patient area features 14 exam rooms, a full service lab, along with a multipurpose room designed to be used for community health classes. CityLife’s care model focuses on a holistic approach for patients where each patient is matched with a care team, which includes a doctor, a nurse, a health coach and a guide for medications.
The addition of the CityLife Oak Lane clinic aligns with the University’s commitment to interprofessional education and providing broad scope population healthcare. Having a primary care clinic within The Eye Institute allows for convenient, coordinated care for patients with certain chronic conditions that also manifest in the eyes such as diabetes, high blood pressure and thyroid disease.
