John T. Ochsenreither, O.D. ’88, Association President

It seems a lifetime since walking into my first class at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. The didactic education I received, the clinical experiences and the externship exposure laid the foundation for my optometric career. Just as important were the interactions with classmates, faculty, friends and peers at the school and afterwards that have allowed me to grow as an optometrist. Today, I feel as optimistic and energetic about optometry as the day I began this journey at PCO.

Now, as my alma mater has grown and expanded into Salus University with the George S. Osborne College of Audiology, College of Education and Rehabilitation and College of Health Sciences, I ask each alumnus to reflect on their own journey. Where would you be without Salus University? Think of the education, the experiences and the friendships that have come directly and indirectly from your attending and graduating from this premier place of learning. With that in mind, I ask you to get involved with the university, with whatever level of time and commitment you are able. Spread the word of how your profession allows you to excel. Recruit and mentor others into your field. Promote Salus and its colleges to young friends. Keep our community growing.

I encourage each and every one of you to get involved with your alma mater and continue this tradition of excellence. In doing so, you will be surprised at the benefit you will receive.
