Kathryn D. Botsford is an NBPTS (National Board of Professional Teaching Standards) certified Teacher of the Visually Impaired, an ACVREP COMS© (Association for Certification of Vision Rehabilitation and Education Professionals Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist) and a National Leadership Consortium on Sensory Disabilities (NLCSD) Fellow at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colorado. Research interests include: public policy and advocacy, inclusion and the continuum of special education services, transition, and programming for children with multiple exceptionalities including functional learning and social skills instruction.
Botsford earned her Bachelor’s at Willamette University in Salem, Oregon; her first MA in History from Washington State University in Pullman and her second MA in Special Education of the Blind and Visually Impaired from the University of Arizona in Tucson. She worked as both a TVI/COMS and private consultant in the Seattle, Washington suburbs for over 12 years. Botsford remains active in professional leadership through CEC and AER. Over the past ten years she has served on local AER chapter boards and is currently on the International AER Board representing District 1.
