Jessica Williams Trussell is a first year doctoral student at Georgia State University and was chosen for the National Leadership Consortium in Sensory Disabilities fellowship. She holds a BS degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from University of Georgia (2003) and a Masters in Education of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing from Georgia State University (2005) where she was worked as a research assistant on a literacy project supervised by Dr. Susan Easterbrooks. Jessica has been a Teacher of the Deaf in Georgia, Virginia and Idaho for the last 6 years. In addition to teaching, she has been part of professional committees to create more accessible testing for students who are non-verbal and state proposals to improve deaf education in Idaho. Her research interests include language development in children with cochlear implants, implications of unsuccessful implantation, and literacy.
