State Student Optometric Associations

Student State Optometric Associations function to promote professionalism and to act as a liaison between students and the state optometric associations. Opportunities extended to students include attendance of the annual congress and educational seminars. Membership is the associations require good academic standing in an accredited optometry college.

Currently within the PCO student body are state student associations for Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Maryland, West Virginia, North Carolina, Virginia, North Central States and California. These student associations try to maintain close contact with the state associations. If you plan on practicing in one of these states, it is helpful to get to know some of the practitioners by participating in these organizations. Many practice partnerships have developed through introductions at the state optometric conventions.
