After the 1st week of action it seems there will be a lot of strong competition to come!

As stated previously two of the three teams predicted to win it all came away with their 1st victory of the season: Ace N' Hitters (Captain: Gina Hayes PA'14) and Serves You Right (Captain: Brian Lilien OD'16). Will Refract For Sets (Captain: Patrick McManamon OD'17) battled in a close one as they went to the third set against Ball Sets (Captain: Zoltan Byrd-Leitner PA'15), but was unable to come away with the win. The audiology team, Bestibular (Captain: Hayley Morgan AUD'17) cruised through the 1st set and then fought hard to take it in the 2nd set to win the match in two. The 2nd year battle came down to the wire as Wrecking Balls (Captain: Jared Scheff OD'16) came away with the victory against fellow classmates Eye Spike It (Captain: Mary Gouris OD'16) in the 3rd set. The seasoned OT program and admission staff, Aceholes (Captain: Praveen Philip OT'16) picked up their first victory against the new 1st year team The Beta-Blockers (Captain: Bilal Ghanem OD'17). The all girl team, Too Much Sclera (Captain: Kelsey Paciotti OD'16) who was winless last year took it up a notch last night as they picked up their very first victory ever as a squad!

Four out of the fourteen teams remain undefeated! The game of the night between Eye Spike It (Captain: Mary Gouris OD'16) and Aceholes (Captain: Praveen Philip OT'16) was the only game last night to go into a third set in the intense match-up! With the tag team combo of both Black and White Wadas from Eye Spike It helped contribute some few key knock downs at the front of the net which helped them pull away in the last set to bring them to 2-0 on the season. Bestibular (Captain: Hayley Morgan AUD'17) is the best audiology team ever put together out of all the four seasons this sport started. They put up a good fight against Ace N' Hitters (Captain: Gina Hayes PA'14), but fell short in the 2nd set to bring it to the third. Both Ace N' Hitters and Serves You Right (Captain: Brian Lilien OD’16) continue their win streaks and will be quite the match-up for whenever these two face off in the future. Both Masters of Sets (Captain: Patrick McManamon OD'17) and Vitreous Secret (Captain: Annie Springer OD'17) battled hard as they each took their 1st set to win by two. Let's see if they can continue the fight after falling short as we head into the third week.

Game 1: 26-24
Game 2: 25-22

Game 3: 15-8

Ace N' Hitters (2-0) vs Bestibular (1-1)
Game 1: 25-13
Game 2: 25-22

And then there were only two! As stated before the start of the season both Serves You Right (Captain: Brian Lilien OD’16) and Ace N' Hitters (Captain: Gina Hayes PA'14) reign supreme as they are the only ones who remain undefeated! The game of the night between Eye Spike It (Captain: Mary Gouris OD'16) and Serves You Right truly was the game to witness as these two power houses battled it out all the way to the third set. In the final set with the game tied 13 a piece there was a huge volley continuously going back and forth until all of a sudden another ball entered the court stopping the action! With tension high in the air and everyone at the edge of their seat this unexpected incidence may have ruined the flow for one of these teams. Serves You Right was about to win the game until Tyler Page (Eye Spike It) had a huge block on a spike to tie the game at 15 all. Unfortunately, Eye Spike It could not use this momentum to get the next two points as they go 2-1 on the season.

Five of the seven matches last night went to a third set as many teams seem to be evenly matched and are capable of coming away with a win at any moment. Eye Ball So Hard (Captain: David Weaver OD'17) started the season 0-2 and was up against the undefeated Ball Sets (Captain: Zoltan Byrd-Leitner PA'15). Ball Sets  put them away with ease in the 1st set 25-10. In the 2nd set, Eye Ball So Hard got into a team huddle and stated that they were tired of losing as they put their opponents away by 1 upping them 25-9. In the third set both teams were neck and neck, however Eye Ball So Hard were able to go on a late run to not only pick up their 1st win on the season, but also give Ball Sets  their 1st loss. Also, Wrecking Balls (Captain: Jared Scheff OD'16) were able to pick up their 1st win on the season as they and Eye Ball So Hard will try to continue this next week.

Serves You Right (3-0) vs Eye Spike It (2-1)
Game 1: 25-17
Game 2: 25-14

Game 1: 25-12
Game 2: 25-10

Week 4:

Welcome back to intramurals as we have been on a two week hiatus from the action! As we get back into the mix of things will either Hammer Time (Jordan Finegan PA'15) or Aceholes (Captain: Praveen Phillip OT'16) put a stop to either Serves You Right (Captain: Brian Lilien OD’16) or Ace N' Hitters (Captain: Gina Hayes PA'14) tomorrow night from going 4-0 on the season?! Also, the battle against both variations of pink, Masters of Sets (Captain: Patrick McManamon OD'17) and Vitreous Secret (Captain: Annie Springer OD'17) will be a good game to witness as one of these first year teams will be earning their very 1st victory on the season! Four teams with a 2-1 record will be battling it out against each other as each team will be fighting to not hit the .500 mark as the other four teams with a 1-2 record will be hoping to get to the .500 mark.  Ball Sets (Captain: Zoltan Byrd-Leitner PA'15) who are coming off a tough loss from three weeks ago will be up against We've Got Floaters (Captain: David Lai OD'17). Can Ball Sets get back to their winning ways or will We've Got Floaters go on a 3 game winning streak?!

Week 8:

With the audiology team out on spring break the OT team had to sit on the sidelines this week as the PA and optometry teams battled it out.

Ball Sets (Captain: Zoltan Byrd-Leitner PA'15) had a tough task ahead of them as they faced Serves You Right (Captain: Brian Lilien OD’16). Ball Sets were out there trying to prove something as they were looking to give Serves You Right their first loss on the season as they took the 1st game in quick fashion. With Serves You Right at the edge of their heels they ended up regrouping and taking the next two sets to remain undefeated bringing their overall record to 8-0.

The game of the night brought us Wrecking Balls (Captain: Jared Scheff OD'16) vs Eye Ball So Hard (Captain: David Weaver OD'17) who were both fighting to not hit the .500 mark. After they split sets, it got extremely intense where players from each team were diving all over the court fighting for every point as each team went back and forth point for point until it was tied at 13-13. Wrecking Balls ended up surviving the match getting the next two points keeping their record above the .500 mark as well as in the hunt for 3rd place.

Both Ace N' Hitters (Captain: Gina Hayes PA'14) and We've Got Floaters (Captain: David Lai OD'17) picked up the victory last night to bring their record to 5-3 and are still in a three way tie for 3rd place.

Game 1: 25-16
Game 2: 25-12
Game 3: 15-6

Game 2: 25-15
Game 3: 15-13
