Jo Surpin, MA, Chair, Collingswood, NJ
Ms. Surpin joined our Board of Trustees in 1995 and has served as its Chair since 2007.
Ms. Surpin is President of Applied Medical Software, which implements of gainsharing programs that align physician and hospital incentives, and President of Strategic Health Alliance of Collingswood, New Jersey, a health care management and consulting organization. She is a recipient of the Salus University Presidential Medal of Honor and the American College of Health Care Executives Regent Award for Innovation.
Ms. Surpin is a graduate of Temple University with an MA and BA in Economics.
Daniel A. Abramowicz, PhD, Vice Chair, Philadelphia, PA
Dr. Abramowicz joined our Board of Trustees in 2000 and currently serves as our Vice Chair, Chair of the Committee on Trustees and a member of the Executive Committee and the Audit & Compliance Committee.
Dr. Abramowicz is currently Executive Vice President – Corporate Technology and Regulatory Affairs of Crown Holdings, a leading packaging supplier. He also serves as Chairperson of the Executive Corporate Committee of The Franklin Institute, Director of the Industrial Research Institute and Chairperson of The President’s Advisory Board of Conwell-Egan Catholic High School.
Dr. Abramowicz is a graduate of Princeton University with a PhD and MS in Biophysical Chemistry and of St. Francis College with a dual BS/BA in Chemistry and Mathematics and Computer Science.
Craig Cassey, OD ’86, Secretary, Media, PA
Dr. Cassey joined our Board of Trustees in 2007 and currently serves as Chair of the Institutional Policy & Curriculum Committee and a member of the Executive Committee.
Dr. Cassey currently maintains a private optometry practice.
Dr. Cassey is a graduate of Salus University, Pennsylvania College of Optometry with an OD and Bucknell University with a BS in Biology with a minor in Sociology.
Rebecca Delia, MS, Treasurer, Lancaster, PA
Ms. Delia joined our Board in 2018 and currently serves as Chair of the Finance Committee and a member of the Executive Committee and the Audit & Compliance Committee.
Ms. Delia is currently Senior Vice President of Financial S&Lutions LLC, a financial advisory firm to college and universities. Ms. Delia is a member of the advisory council for the Women’s Leadership Network of the United Way of the Capital Region and a Founding Board Member of Ladies First, a professional association of women engaged in the public finance industry.
Ms. Delia is a graduate of the American Graduate School of International Management with a MIM and Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a BA in German International Trade.

Ms. Lonie is currently the executive assistant to president Dr. Michael Mittelman.
Terri Albertson, Lansdale, PA
Ms. Albertson joined our Board of Trustees in 2018 and currently serves as Chair of the Audit & Compliance Committee and a member of the Executive Committee.
Ms. Albertson is currently Assistant Vice President of Finance and Controller of Haverford College.
Ms. Albertson is a graduate of Washington & Jefferson College with a BA in Economics and Business Administration with a major in Accounting.
Derrick Artis, OD ’89, MBA, Humble, TX
Dr. Artis joined our Board of Trustees in 2013 and currently serves on the Committee on Trustees and the Institutional Policy & Curriculum Committee.
Dr. Artis is currently an independent healthcare industry management consultant. He previously served as Executive Vice President of Operations at Vision Source, Director of Professional Affairs for Johnson and Johnson’s Vistakon contact lens division and as a practicing optometrist. He is active in the Grace Church of Humble, Texas and supports several international medical care organizations, including leading a medical eye care team providing eye care throughout Kenya in 2012.
Dr. Artis is a graduate of Salus University, Pennsylvania College of Optometry with an OD and was recognized as our Alumnus of the Year in 2006. He is also a graduate of the University of Miami with an MBA and MHA and the Virginia Commonwealth University with a BS in Biology.
Thomas E. Beeman, PhD, Margate, NJ
Admiral Beeman joined our Board of Trustees in 2017 and currently serves as a member of the Institutional Policy & Curriculum Committee.
Admiral Beeman is currently executive in residence at Penn Medicine and Saint Joseph University. Following a distinguished military career, he served as Chief Operating Officer, Regional Operations for Penn Medicine and President & Chief Executive Officer of Lancaster General Health. In addition, he served as cochair of the COVER commission appointed by the president to improve mental health care in the Veterans Administration.
Admiral Beeman is a graduate of Vanderbilt University with a PhD in Organizational Leadership and Policy, Weidner University with an MBA in Healthcare Administration and St. Joseph’s University with a MA in Public Health Education and Promotion and a BS in Community Health and Preventative medicine.
James Brand, BS, Student Representative
Mr. Brand is our current student representative to the Board of Trustees. He is a member of our Doctor of Audiology Class of 2022 and serves on our Student Council, Student Ambassador Program and our Diversity Equity and Inclusion Committee.
Mr. Brand is a graduate of Western Michigan University with a BS in Biomedical Sciences and a minor in Speech and Hearing Processes/Chemistry, as well as a co-curricular endorsement in Diversity and Inclusion.
Christopher Dezzi, MBA, Philadelphia, PA
Mr. Dezzi joined our Board of Trustees in 2009 and currently serves as a member of the Finance Committee.
Mr. Dezzi is currently President of the Dezzi Group, Ltd, a full service political and business consulting firm. Mr. Dezzi is Chairman Emeritus of the Gladney Center for Adoption, a member of the Talent and Workforce Committee of Holy Redeemer Health System and a member of the Executive Committee for Elementary Education of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.
Mr. Dezzi is a graduate of Temple University with an MBA and LaSalle University with a BA in English & Political Science.
Reade Fahs, MBA, Atlanta, GA
Mr. Fahs joined our Board of Trustees in 2017 and currently serves as a member of the Institutional Advancement Committee and the Institutional Policy & Curriculum Committee.
Mr. Fahs is currently Chief Executive Officer of National Vision, Inc., one of the largest optical retailers in the country, and Chairman of the Board of VisionSpring, a non-profit provider of affordable eyeglasses, vision screening and training around the world.
Mr. Fahs is a graduate of Harvard College with an AB in English and American Literature.
Carolyn Forcina, Washington Crossing, PA
Ms. Forcina joined our Board of Trustees in 2020 and currently serves as chair of the Health Services Committee.
Ms. Forcina was with the American Hospital Association for 24 years serving as Regional Executive responsible for member relations in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. More recently she was Vice President of Government Relations & Education for Pandion Optimization Alliance, an organization representing hospitals and health systems in the greater Rochester, New York, region. Currently she is a consultant and freelance writer specializing in health policy and health system transformation.
Ms. Forcina graduated magna cum laude from Duke University with a BA in Public Policy.
Keith D. Ignotz, MBA, Charlottesville, VA
Mr. Ignotz joined our Board of Trustees in 1991 and currently serves as Chair of the Institutional Advancement Committee and as a member of the Executive Committee.
Mr. Ignotz is currently President & Chief Executive Officer and a Director of OcuMedic, Inc., an ophthalmic drug delivery company. Mr. Ignotz previously served in Chief Executive and Director roles with several ophthalmic device and biopharmaceutical companies.
Mr. Ignotz is a graduate of Pepperdine University with an MBA and San Jose State University with a BA in Business.
Kathleen Kinslow, CRNA, EdD, MBA, Philadelphia, PA
Dr. Kinslow joined our Board of Trustees in January 2021 and currently serves as a member of the Institutional Policy and Curriculum Committee.
Dr. Kinslow is East Coast president of Prospect Medical Holdings.
Dr. Kinslow is a graduate of Temple University with a master’s degree in Nursing, of Widener University with a doctorate in Education, and of St. Joseph’s University with a master’s degree in Business Administration.

Ms. Koh joined our Board of Trustees in 2020 and currently serves as a member of the Committee on Trustees and the Finance Committee.
Ms. Koh is Senior Vice President and Senior Counsel at Capmark Finance, Inc., a diversified financial services company.
Ms. Koh is a graduate of The Beasley School of Law at Temple Univiersity with a JD and of the University of Pennsylvania with a dual BA in English and Economics.
Sarah Mitchell, JD, Elkins Park, PA
Ms. Mitchell joined our Board of Trustees in January 2018 and is a member of the Health Services Committee and the Finance Committee.
Ms. Mitchell is the former Chief Executive Officer of New Jersey Protection and Advocacy, Inc., a non-profit agency providing legal services to people with disabilities. During a distinguished legal, healthcare and social work career, Ms. Mitchell was appointed by President Clinton as the first Chair of the TWWIIA Advisory Panel to the Social Security Administration regarding the federal work incentives program. Ms. Mitchell also has served as an Adjunct Professor at Rutgers University, Assistant Dean at Rutgers University School of Law and President of the National Association of Protection and Advocacy Systems.
Ms. Mitchell is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania Law School with a JD, the University of Michigan with a MS in Social Work and the University of Pennsylvania with a BS in Nursing.

Jamie A.E. Neiman, OD, Levittown, PA, Faculty Representative
Dr. Neiman is our current faculty representative to the Board of Trustees and an Assistant Professor, Pennsylvania College of Optometry. Dr. Neiman is PCO’s Coordinator for the Scholars Clinical Skills Courses and for the Traditional Clinical Skills 1 and Advanced Clinical Skills Course. She is also a Lecturer and Laboratory Instructor in all the Clinical Skills Courses. Dr. Neiman is also Coordinator of the Patient Care 3 Course for both the Scholars and Traditional Students.
Dr. Neiman is a graduate of the Pennsylvania College of Optometry with an OD and Primary Care Residency and of the University of Delaware with a BA in Biology and a minor in Chemistry.
Michele Palos-Samsi, PA-C, Lafayette Hill, PA
Ms. Samsi joined our Board of Trustees in January 2018 and a member of the Health Services Committee.
Ms. Samsi is a practicing Physician Assistant at Miriam Medical Clinic. Previously she co-founded a family practice medical clinic in Philadelphia that served uninsured patients for over 15 years.
Ms. Samsi is a graduate of Drexel University/Hahnemann University with a PA-C.
Adrienne Phillips, MD, MPH, New York, NY
Dr. Phillips joined our Board of Trustees in January 2017 and is a member of the Health Services Committee. She continues a family tradition of service to Salus University; her father Algernon A. Phillips MD, OD founded Student Optometric Service to Humanity (still active at Salus University) and her mother Elois Rogers-Phillips MD served on our Board of Trustees.
Dr. Phillips is an assistant professor at Weill Cornell Medical College specializing in medical oncology, hematology and bone marrow transplantation.
Dr. Phillips is a graduate of Brown University with an MD (with honors) and a BA and Harvard University with an MPH.

Ms. Tornoe joined our Board of Trustees in January 2021 and currently serves as a member of the Audit and Compliance Committee.
Ms. Tornoe is the president and CEO of Coast to Coast Insurance Brokers/CCIB.
