Inaugural DEI! Educates Provides Important LGBTQ+ Training

In an effort to provide faculty and staff with a better understanding and to offer advice on how be an effective ally to the LGBTQ+ community, Salus University’s Diversion, Equity and Inclusion committee recently hosted the inaugural DEI Educates! virtual event featuring Stan Kimer, president of Total Engagement Consulting, which specializes in diversity management and organizational effectiveness.

Nydia Han, an investigative reporter and a Sunday morning co-anchor with 6ABC Action News in Philadelphia, prefaced a recent virtual DEI Speaks! event at Salus University with staggering statistics, calling out the dramatic rise in anti-Asian hate crimes in the U.S., when she said, “I really think that we are a community in crisis right now.”

According to a 2016 report by researchers at the University of Southern California, U.S. Latinos living with Alzheimer’s disease are projected to increase from 379,000 in 2012 to 1.1 million by 2030 and to 3.5 million by 2060 – a growth of 832 percent.

With more than 20 years of experience in higher education and a focus on strategic DEI initiatives, Dr. Mosley-Williams has strengthened the University’s longstanding commitment to health and well-being for all by fostering an equitable space for academic excellence, professional development, and holistic growth.

Monday, January 17, 2022 is the observance of the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. In his book, Strength to Love, Dr. King poses the following: "Life's most persistent and urgent question is, 'What are you doing for others?'" While COVID has prevented us, yet again, from having a Day of Service that allows us to partner with the community. There is a way for you to serve and use your voice for others.
