"I have many favorite memories, however, Dr. Audrey Smith's low vision classes were always some of my favorite. She used to keep us for hours (past class time) because she had so much she wanted to teach us. She was a wealth of knowledge, and such a personable professor. She will always be my favorite, and she used to bribe us to stay longer in class by buying us pizza. At the time, we thought we made out because of the pizza, however, in retrospect it was all the low vision knowledge that she taught us that was the real prize!"

"I enjoyed working with audiologists and professors all over the United States during my time at Salus University. One of my first classes, Hearing Loss and Syndromes, was one of the hardest, yet rewarding, classes."

"Over the last four years, not only did I find a school that provided one of the best optometric educations I could have received, but I was also able to find a group of friends that I believe will be some of my lifelong friends. We spent endless days and nights in classes and clinic, studying until we couldn’t fit anything else into our brains for the day and enjoying each other’s company while working towards our goals."

"I chose optometry because I never forgot the feeling of what it was like seeing trees with leaves on them and not just a green blur. The fact that our profession was evolving and that I was going to be on staff at PCO was a real perk. I chose Salus/PCO because it was reputed to have the best clinical experience – a fact that hasn’t changed over the years."

"I chose the Audiology profession because I loved the combination of science, technology, and working with people and Pennsylvania College of Optometry (PCO) School of Audiology represented the type of education I believed all audiologists should experience."

"While I have many fond memories of my time at PCO (Pennsylvania College of Optometry), the one that first comes to mind was having the opportunity to meet my wife during my externship at the Indian Health Service Hospital rotation in Rosebud, SD."

"The patients are what really make my Salus experience so special... There was a patient I had who was diagnosed with macular degeneration. One of her goals was to be able to play the clarinet and read music but she had always been told that there was nothing that could be done."

"I graduated from Ohio University and entered PCO in 1964. Over the next four years I was privileged to work part time with Dr. Harry Kaplan, International Contact Lens Fitter and Professor at PCO. In 1966, while working in Dr. Kaplan's office, I met my wonderful wife."

"In looking back, there were events that could easily have precipitated my entry into the world of audiology. There was the personality profiling test that I took in college which matched my personality to the field of audiology; the first time I even heard of the profession."

"One of my best Salus memories was during my residency year from 2015-2016. At the end of year, we attended an annual event called the Ciao Chow. Although all the clinical faculty were invited, the event was really to welcome the new residents and also thank the outgoing residency class."
