The public phase of Salus University’s fundraising campaign in celebration of its founding College, the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, and its 100-year history was announced at the Centennial Gala and Scholarship Fundraiser by president Dr. Michael H. Mittelman. Officially launched on April 27, 2019, Focus on Our Future: The Centennial Campaign aims to raise $5 million by the end of 2020.

“This campaign provides momentum, moving Salus University forward and encouraging us to achieve dreams,” Dr. Mittelman said.

Reaching the campaign goal will coincide with another historic milestone — the celebration of the University’s Osborne College of Audiology’s 20th anniversary in 2020. To date, the Centennial Campaign has raised more than $3.5 million since the quiet phase initially started in 2017. The quiet phase has included three of the largest gifts in the University’s history and initiated the development of the Lombardi Classroom - the University’s largest classroom in honor of Lorraine Lombardi, PhD for her dedicated service to both the Pennsylvania College of Optometry (PCO) and Salus scholarships and many other academic initiatives.

“We are grateful for the support and would like to thank all of the donors for their generosity and investment in Salus University,” Jacqueline Patterson, interim vice president of Institutional Advancement and Community Relations, said.

The key priorities in the public phase include funding student scholarships, community initiatives, and enhancement of facilities.

“These initiatives will make us stretch and reach for more,” Dr. Mittelman said. We are building a stronger Salus University that will serve students for the next 100 years.”

The focus areas of the public phase are noteworthy for several reasons and will have a lasting impact at Salus – both on and off campus. One impact from the scholarships will be improving the University’s ability to recruit and graduate the strongest caliber of students.

In support of the public phase and in celebration, the University’s Office of Institutional Advancement has created a national series of events – entitled Centennial Tour – which officially announces Focus on Our Future: The Centennial Campaign in 16 cities over the course of 90 days.
