Service Learning with MANNA
As part of the integrated medicine course, students learn the medical benefits of therapeutic nutrition through a service learning experience at Metropolitan Area Neighborhood Nutrition Alliance (MANNA)
in Philadelphia. MANNA is a non-profit organization that prepares and delivers nutritious, medically modified meals and provides nutrition counseling to neighbors battling life-threatening illnesses such as cancer, renal disease, and HIV/AIDS. Students, along with PA faculty and staff volunteer in the preparation, packaging and delivery of healthy meals to area residents with chronic illness. Through the experience, students gain an understanding of health promotion through nutrition and the benefits of contributing as part of a team in service to others.
The Salus University PA Class of 2019 joined in fundraising efforts with students from six local PA Programs as part of the Annual PA Olympics held in April, 2018. Collectively, participating students raised $24,500 in support of this year's chosen charity, Miracle League of Northampton Township. Miracle League is dedicated to the construction of integrative recreational facilities accessible to children with all levels of ability.
