8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
This course will provide students with the foundation of anatomy, physiology and function of tracheostomy and ventilator dependent patients. Students will learn etiologies leading to artificial airways. This course will interactively teach various oxygenation levels and sources. Students will gain cursory knowledge in efficient chart review, initial evaluation and treatment protocols for this population. Students will understand utility of speaking valves, troubleshooting and patient/caregiver education. Students will participate in group discussion, article reviews and hands on practice.
