Imagine trying to walk two blocks, complete with sidewalk sales tables, people sitting outside cafes talking on cellphones and enjoying coffee, and owners walking their dogs on leashes. No big deal, right? OK, then try doing it blindfolded.That’s what students in the University’s Department of Blindness and Low Vision Studies (BLVS) Orientation and Mobility (O&M) program did in late July on the streets of Philadelphia’s Chestnut Hill neighborhood.
The University’s Physician Assistant (PA) students participate annually in a hands-on pediatric workshop as an experimental learning component of the program’s physical diagnosis course. Pediatric patients, ranging from three months to seven years of age, served as the subjects for the exams. Their parents helped facilitate at each of the practice stations.

Students from the University’s Pennsylvania College of Optometry’s (PCO) Sports Vision Club traveled to the nation’s capital in late July and got to meet a former president of the United States.
This month marks the transition period for the University’s Pennsylvania College of Optometry (PCO) residency classes. For most of our 2018-2019 residents, this will be their first time leaving Salus PCO since becoming optometry students five years ago. As for our new entering class, they represent the most academically diverse group Salus PCO has ever had – with graduates from optometry programs all across the country.
