Salus University Pennsylvania College of Optometry professor Joseph Toland OD ’54, MD, passed away on Sunday, December 4. In his announcement, President Mittelman—a student of Dr. Toland—called him a true icon, advocate, activist and leader who played a pivotal role in ensuring optometrists were able to practice at the levels at which they were being taught.
