Salus University Student Council has announced Jill Federico, OD ’15 and Kate Hartnett, MSOT ’15 as the 2014-2015 recipients of the Dr. Thomas L. Lewis Leadership Excellence Scholarship.
The Salus community welcomed its third and largest group of optometry students from Qassim University in Saudi Arabia to Elkins Park in June. The eight sixth-year students, who return home in August, were here to augment their clinical curriculum.
Dr. Audrey Smith, dean of Salus University College of Education and Rehabilitation, announced today that the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA) awarded candidacy to the University’s Master of Science degree program in Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) for a period of five years beginning July 1, 2015 through June 30, 2020.
Salus PCO fourth-year student, Nicole Rist ’16OD, is the new Varilux Optometry Student Bowl national champion. She won her title on June 25 at Optometry’s Meeting, the annual conference of the American Optometry Association, held in Seattle, WA this year.
The Speech-Language Institute (SLI), the clinical facility for the Department of Speech-Language Pathology (SLP), will open next month for patient care. Located on the Elkins Park campus, SLI is the University’s newest clinical facility, joining The Eye Institute and Pennsylvania Ear Institute.
