The New Jersey Academy of Optometry’s (NJAO) chapter dinner meeting on November 8 included two notable events for the University’s Pennsylvania College of Optometry (PCO). Not only did chief of the William Feinbloom Vision Rehabilitation Center, Dr. Erin Kenny, present a continuing education seminar, but PCO was also presented with a $10,000 scholarship check.
The American Academy of Optometry Foundation (AAOF) recently announced two of the University’s Pennsylvania College of Optometry (PCO) students received honorable scholarships. Kylie Auman ’18OD earned the 2017 J. Pat Cummings Scholarship and Monica Udaykumar ’19OD was selected for the 2017 Vincent Salierno Scholarship.
Blindness and Low Vision Studies chair Dr. Fabiana Perla, COMS, CLVR, recently announced the appointment of Assistant Professor Jamie Maffit, MS, COMS, CLVT, as director of the University’s Orientation and Mobility (O&M) program.
Dr. Lauren Sponseller, Occupational Therapy (OT) Department chair and director of the Master’s in OT program, was recently selected to the American Occupational Therapy Association’s Academic Leadership Institute (ALI). She is one of only 20 participants chosen throughout the U.S.
On October 31, Salus hosted an interprofessional training seminar in preparation for the 2017 Veterans Readiness Initiative (VRI) multisensory outreach screening events. The first screening event will take place on November 20 as part of the Montgomery County Community College Veterans Expo from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
