The University was well represented at the Delaware Military Medicine Association Symposium held on November 14. Salus president, Dr. Michael H. Mittelman, retired Rear Admiral and former deputy surgeon general of the US Navy, was the morning’s keynote speaker. Dr. William Monaco, associate dean for Graduate Programs in Biomedicine, introduced Salus professor emeritus, Dr. Felix Barker, current associate director of Research for the Department of Defense Veterans Administration Vision Center of Excellence, who spoke about traumatic brain injury (TBI) and vision performance.

Approximately 200 participants from all branches of the service, active and retired, heard from experts on a variety of topics that included contagious diseases, prosthetics, and suicide, with an emphasis on global mission readiness and the delivery of health care services to military personnel in the field.
