Faculty Development Day and Goodbye to Dr. Scharre

Last week, Salus faculty members participated in a University faculty development session comprised of two days of lectures to advance their knowledge in several areas. They also had a chance to socialize with colleagues at the faculty social. Development sessions are held twice a year and are comprised of two days each.  The topics at this latest session covered how to create tests worth taking, providing student support for personal and professional development, and the judicial process.

At the conclusion, faculty were invited to the beautiful Chubb Conference Center in Lafayette Hill for the faculty social as well as a farewell to Janice Scharre,OD, MA, FAAO, provost who retires at the end of August. The social started off with recognizing new faculty members and those who were promoted, then took an emotional turn as goodbyes were said to Dr. Scharre. The consistent message among the testimonials given expressed how much Dr. Scharre is respected and admired and how she will be missed. “Jan is the ultimate teacher - she has taught us all in her coy and skilled way how to do our jobs,” said Michael H. Mittelman,OD ‘80, MPH, president, Salus University. Many sentiments reflected the same thoughts. “We will miss your leadership, your calming nature, guidance and friendship,” said Lauren Sponseller, OTD, PhD, chair, Occupational Therapy department.
