On Saturday, February 23, Salus University hosted its annual International Graduate Reception. This year, the reception took place in Shanghai at the Courtyard by Marriott Shanghai Xujiahui.
The reception celebrated the University’s international graduates of the Master of Science in Clinical Optometry (MSCO) with an Advanced Studies Certificate Degree program.
Designed for international optometric practitioners, the program provides the didactic and clinical experience for international practitioners with the goal to elevate their current skills and knowledge base. The students learn the didactic components of the program from their own countries, while the hands-on clinical curriculum and patient care experiences occur during extended periods on the Salus University campus and at The Eye Institute.
In attendance with the students were Michael Mittelman, OD, University president and Melissa Vitek, OD, FAAO, director of International and Continuing Education. “Our international programs have brought so much to Salus in the way of exceptional students, wonderful cultural experiences and professional experiences as well as new-found friendships,” said Dr. Mittelman.
During the reception, drinks and light fare were available as well as plenty of photo opportunities. Both Dr. Mittelman and Dr. Vitek were able to meet prospective students as they intermingled with alumni during the reception as well. It was a successful event in which both Dr. Vitek and Dr. Mittelman were thrilled with the outcome.
