At Salus University, we change lives. Salus embodies the 100-year history of the University’s founding college, the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. From our establishment as a University in 2008 through today, Salus University’s mission has always focused on advancing integrated healthcare through innovative education, research and clinical services. Thus, we have set the standard for health, education, and rehabilitation professionals, advancing their scope of practice and maintaining and continually expanding a focus on excellence in academics, while acquiring a distinguished record of firsts.
We recently unveiled the largest and newest classroom on the Elkins Park campus in honor of Lorraine Lombardi, PhD and her fifty years of dedicated service to the Pennsylvania College of Optometry (PCO) and Salus. The new classroom serves as an extension of her profound legacy of excellent teaching in the fields of neuro-anatomy and optometry and is equipped with state-of-the-art electronic technology that enhances the classroom experience.
Student education within each of the University’s four colleges speaks to the many aspects of this century’s growing need to fully embrace the concept of disease prevention and the management of chronic illnesses by promoting health and well-being throughout society. Our innovative curriculum offers broad-based, interdisciplinary clinical education, presenting our students with a wide range of challenging primary care opportunities. Well-known for our excellent clinical education, our commitment to clinical training presented early in each program has provided an advantage for students when externship placements begin.
