“To study the phenomena of disease without books is to sail an uncharted sea, while to study books without patients is not to go to sea at all.” William Osler
Students participate annually in a hands-on pediatric workshop as an experiential learning component of the physical diagnosis course. Our pediatric patients ranged this year from three months to seven years of age. Also participating were their parents who helped facilitate sessions at each of the practice stations. Students received instruction in various age-appropriate well-child exams demonstrated by PA faculty. Students assessed developmental milestones, practiced history-taking skills, performed physical examinations and provided anticipatory guidance counseling.
