DICE and Drexel students hiking

Salus Master of Science in Clinical Optometry (MSCO) 2023 international students spent a recent autumn morning hiking along the Wissahickon Park trails with other international students from Drexel University’s English Language Center (ELC).

This was the first social meet-up for students supported by the Department of International and Continuing Education (DICE) at Salus and Drexel’s ELC. Additional plans for day trips and get-togethers are underway and will help build student social networks, enhance English language skills, and share each other’s cultural connections. DICE is also working with Drexel ELC’s Intensive English Program which provides courses designed to prepare international students who are newly accepted into Salus programs.

The trip was coordinated by Salus’ Margie Singer, academic coordinator for DICE, and Drexel’s Hilary Bonta, assistant director, Student Services ELC. Also leading the charge were Natalie Standig, program manager and Sarah Reese, academic coordinator for DICE; Travis Harman, interim director of ELC programs and Bill Albertson, instructor. Students represented many countries including Saudi Arabia, Iran, China, India, Kuwait and Italy.
