On a warm Friday in July, the smell of hamburgers and hotdogs filled the air as students, faculty, staff, and guests gathered for the first-ever Salus Summer Concert, presented by the Campus Activities Committee. The concert, hosted nearby at the Abington Art Center, was provided at no charge to guests; however donations were accepted in support of the students’ interdisciplinary screening fund.
The evening's musical guest was Matt Cermanski, an up and coming singer/songwriter from Phoenixville, PA. Matt auditioned for the fifth season of NBC’s hit vocal competition “The Voice” in 2013, and instantly became a contestant under the guidance of team leader Adam Levine. His debut EP “Long Road Home” is currently available on Spotify and iTunes.
Due to the success of the event, the Campus Activities Committee plans to make the Salus Summer Concert a yearly occurrence. “We wanted to throw a fun-filled summer event for the Salus community in order to raise funds for future interdisciplinary screening efforts,” said Katharine Funari ’18OD, Salus Student Council executive vice president. “This first summer concert was a huge success, and we look forward to organizing additional events like this in the future!”
