Please join the Division of Global, Interprofessional, and Specialized Programming and A.J. Drexel Autism Institute for a free Lunch & Learn Continuing Education program delivered via Zoom. This program provides activities to develop the social-emotional confidence and competence of autistic youth in a way designed to affirm their own way of being and build these capacities on their own terms.

This 2-hour lecture provides the required training for Pennsylvania license renewal for healthcare providers. The attendees will learn how to define child abuse, differentiate between acts and failure to act and the risk factors for child abuse. The description of a perpetrator, frequency and types of abuse will be discussed. The concept of children’s rights and red flags associated with child abuse will be defined. Medical child abuse will be defined and discussed. How General Protective Services are differentiated from Child Protective Services will be discussed. The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s definition of a child will be explained. The terms mandated reporters and permissive reporters will be defined and their responsibilities outlined. A list of actions to avoid once a child discloses abuse will be presented. The concepts of privileged communications, exemption and substantiation will be defined and discussed. Lastly, case examples of management and prevention strategies will be presented.

This event will provide attendees with the opportunity to hear from, and discuss with, a panel of leading health care providers. The event will describe and discuss the basic physiology of the endogenous endocannabinoid system. Panelists will share their experiences in the clinical use of medicinal marijuana for a variety of medical conditions. After the program, attendees will be better prepared to deliver recommendations around the use of medical marijuana.
