Salus University recently hosted the Audiology Stakeholders meeting. The three audiology associations (ASHA, AAA and ADA) were in attendance, as well as presenters from CDC, AADE, AOA, Pharmacy and Audiology. As of the time of this newsletter, AAA and ADA have joined The Audiology Project initiative focused on diabetic ear disease, to develop educational materials, to begin the process for establishing clinical guidelines and to advocate to raise awareness of this important comorbidity in audiology patients. The Audiology Project mission seeks to promote early audiology diagnosis, treatment and management of hearing and balance disorders associated with chronic disease, improve the lives of people with hearing loss and balance problems and elevate educational programs in government, university and audiology practice regarding chronic disease and audiological management of resulting hearing loss and balance disorders.
