The University’s students joined faculty at the Fall Research Symposium, presented by the Student Chapter of the American Academy of Optometry (SAAO), where the latest ongoing research topics at Salus were presented. Multiple faculty members have been actively working with the Veterans Association to help individuals diagnosed with mild Traumatic Brain Injury (mTBI), since they are a large population of individuals affected with brain injuries while on active duty. Other faculty researchers have been investigating various methods to assist in Vision Rehabilitation, adult strabismus, finding a baseline for Near Point Convergence (NPC) in children, and educating those in communication and disability organizations. A short synopsis about each research topic was presented, with an informal poster exhibition detailing each specific research study. All of the featured presentations showcased different aspects and departments across programs at Salus. Some of these projects are joint ventures with other institutions such as Arcadia University and Community College of Philadelphia (CCP), and organizations such as The Institute for the Blind. Current volunteer research opportunities were also presented to students in all programs.
