This month the interprofessional education (IPE) committee presented "Inter-professional Education at Salus" to an audience of faculty, students and staff as part of the University's continuing efforts to present interesting and timely topics to the University community, healthcare professionals and the public. This session was specifically designed for an internal audience of faculty, students and interested staff.

Dr. Michael Mittelman, Salus president and Dr. Janice Scharre, provost, welcomed attendees, each of them stressing the importance of interprofessional education and the Salus commitment to interdisciplinary healthcare. Dr. Mittelman noted that it was time for the "next steps," indicating that the University has embraced this philosophy and talked about it for a number of years, saying , "Now we must start walking the walk." Led by Dr. Radhika Aravamudhan, Salus Osborne College of Audiology assistant dean for the Practice of Audiologic Medicine, the presentation included an overview of the committee's origin and goals by Dr. Linda Casser, coordinator of IPE initiatives for the University, and presentations by Dr. Anthony F. Di Stefano, director of MPH programs; Dr. Melissa Vitek,  director, Electives Advanced Studies,and panelists Dr. Jonette Owen, assistant dean, Osborne College of Audiology, Joy Henderson, PA-C, interim director, Physician Assistant program;  Victoria Galbreth '16OD;  Nicholas Karbach '17OD; Julia Kuksin '17AUD; Florencia Lopez '15PA; Kallie McCartin '17OD, and Erika Peavey '15PA.
