The University's Speech-Language Institute (SLI)
hosted an open house with a ribbon cutting ceremony on October 15th. SLI is the clinical facility of the Department of Speech-Language Pathology
and was established to enhance the clinical education of the University's SLP master's degree students. Located on the Elkins Park campus, the clinic has been open to clients since July.
Speech-language pathologists at SLI identify, assess, and provide intervention for individuals with a variety of disorders, including: articulation; fluency (stuttering); difficulties with vocal pitch (frequency), volume (intensity) and/or quality (tone); difficulty with comprehension of spoken language (listening) or written language (reading); swallowing and accent modification.
The Open House was a chance for Salus faculty, staff and students, along with local public officials and professionals as well as prospective students to learn more about the facility and its services.
