Residents' Day Recap

Resident's Day Reception at the Hafter CenterThe first annual Salus University Residents' Day held on May 19 and 20 was a great success. Attendees gathered for a two-day COPE approved event in which The Eye Institute residents presented unique clinical cases in a grand rounds format to Salus University faculty and residency program supervisors. A cocktail reception was held following presentations to celebrate their achievements and enjoy the company of each other. Dr. Robert Africano, primary care resident at The Eye Institute found the presentations phenomenal and extensive. “The intelligence, confidence, and poise of each resident was a testament of how beneficial residency training is for a young optometrist,” said Dr. Africano.

Salus University Pennsylvania College of Optometry had a total of thirty seven residency slots for the 2015-2016 residency year. In-house residency programs include: Primary Eye Care, Pediatric Optometry/Vision Therapy, Low Vision Rehabilitation, Cornea and Contact Lenses, and Neuro-Ophthalmic Disease. Affiliated residency programs offer clinical education and training in Ocular Disease and/or Primary Care in various practice modalities.
