Orthotics and Prosthetics Students Take On the 28x28 Mobility Challenge

So Every BODY Can Move group of participants

In recognition of Disability Pride Month this July, students, faculty and staff from the Orthotics and Prosthetics (O&P) program at Drexel University, Elkins Park campus will participate in the 28x28 Mobility Challenge, committing to 28 minutes of movement each day for 28 days to promote mobility, inclusion and awareness.

“It’s a great opportunity to build community while also supporting a cause that directly aligns with the work we’re all passionate about,” said Kittana Tran ‘28O&P, secretary of the Drexel Association of Prosthetics and Orthotics (DAPO), a student group. “There is some friendly competition with other schools, and also some cool prizes for the top teams and participants.”

The event is an initiative by So Every BODY Can Move, an organization that wants amputees to have equitable and life-changing access to orthotic and prosthetic care for physical activity in 28 states by the 2028 Paralympics to create federal and nationwide reform.

Every BODY Can Move hopes to mobilize grassroots advocates to champion local, state-by-state legislative change. The group’s mission is to end discriminatory healthcare treatment for the disability community and to create insurance coverage for recreational prosthetic and orthotic care one state at a time.

Participants can register up until June 30 so check it out today. The challenge itself starts on July 1. If you’re interested in joining or supporting, click here.
