We spoke with Michael Speirs, associate professor in the Physician Assistant Studies (PA) Program, about the on-campus cadaver lab and how it benefits the students at Salus.

The health implications of smoking cigarettes have long been studied and the results of the research have caused many to take action toward quitting the habit and have likely stopped many from starting it. But for some and more recently, the compromise they’ve made is to smoke electronic cigarettes, or e-cigarettes, instead.
Recently, we had several of our students take over our @salusuniversity social media accounts and while doing so, they conducted Q&As with prospective students and viewers. And, what better way to find out about the nuances of a program than students who are knee-deep in it, studying, performing clinical exams and the like. This feature is focused on the PA and Post-bacc program.
January is Thyroid Awareness Month, and given the correlation Kaitlyn Carmo, MMS ‘21, made between thyroid disease and the amount of Vitamin D we receive from sunlight during the research for her capstone project, it seems fitting.
