In yet another example of Salus University’s continuing efforts in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI)
, the University will administer a campus-wide diversity climate survey to provide feedback about belonging, connection and inclusivity.
Survey participation dates are Monday, Jan. 23 to Monday, Feb. 20, 2023. Survey emails are scheduled to be sent on Jan. 23 and Jan. 30 and the final day for submission is Feb. 20, 2023.
“The survey is an opportunity for all students and employees to participate in a meaningful process that allows us to examine who we are as a community, highlighting what we are doing well and where we need to make improvements,” said Juliana Mosley-Williams, PhD, CDP
, special assistant to the president for DEI. “I hope that people will take advantage of this opportunity to have their voices heard and valued.”
The University’s DEI committee spent the summer evaluating vendors for the survey and selected Viewfinder by Campus Climate Surveys, a third-party vendor which has an established track-record of excellence in campus climate surveys for institutions of higher education. It provides insight into what shapes the experiences and perceptions of diverse individuals on campus to help institutions create an environment where everyone feels safe, welcome, valued and respected.
Campus climate matters because it helps people feel connected to and supported by their campus communities and have a higher likelihood of success in the classroom, with their patients and clients, in their personal lives and in the workplace.
As with all University surveys, the Campus Climate Survey will be completely anonymous, meaning there is no way anyone can link name or email addresses with responses. Only aggregate or group results, not individual survey results, will be obtained and shared with stakeholders. No personal identifying information will be collected. Results from these surveys will provide vital information that can be used by the University as it continues its focus on DEI initiatives.
“We all should know that the diversity of our University community makes for a rich tapestry, and we must understand all the threads that make up this tapestry, no matter what their color, culture or gender,” said Salus president, Michael H. Mittelman, OD ‘80, MPH, MBA, FAAO, FACHE
. “This survey will help us gain a better understanding of what we can be doing to more effectively weave that tapestry into our Salus Community.”
Participants will receive two email invitations on their Salus email account directly from Campus Climate Surveys, LCC, inviting them to participate. The survey will only take approximately 15-20 minutes and the subject line will read “Salus University Viewfinder Campus Climate Survey for Students or Employees is Now Open.”
To encourage participation, students and employees who complete the survey will be sent to a “Thank You” page, in which they can enter for the chance to win a $25 Amazon gift card or one of four electronic prizes
including an Apple iPad, Apple Watch, Samsung Galaxy Tablet, and Samsung Galaxy Watch. Winners will be announced in early March.
