Optometric Continuing Education

In order to promote continuing competence in licensed optometrists, the profession’s regulatory board requires a minimum of continuing education (CE) hours each year. PCO and now Salus have offered outstanding continuing education for practitioners for a great number of years, featuring lecturers from our outstanding faculty experts or other renowned specialists, and drawing optometrists from outside the tri-state region.

On Sunday, September 20, Ocular Surface Disease was the topic of the day, when 180 optometrists attended a day-long continuing education (CE) session on the Elkins Park campus, earning eight hours of COPE (Council on Optometric Practitioner Education) credits.

The day’s presenters were all Salus/PCO alumni and/or faculty: Alissa Coyne, OD, FAAO, alumna and assistant professor; James Deom, OD, MPH, alumnus – PCO and College of Health Sciences; Marcus Devlin, OD, alumnus and adjunct; James Lewis, MD, Salus/PCO consulting ophthalmologist, and Brett Neal, OD, PCO alumnus and adjunct.
