The demand for student help at University-related events is frequent. The supply of students who are articulate, well-versed in the Salus mission and history and are willing to occasionally give up their precious free time to represent their school and their program at on and off-campus events is limited. The Office of Student Affairs recognized this need over the summer and went into action. The result? Salus University now has a select group of first-year students from different programs who serve as Salus University Student Ambassadors at events both on and off the campus.

Salus University Student AmbassadorsMs. Monae Kelsey, associate director of Student Engagement, associate director of Admissions, and advisor/mentor to this newest student group, was responsible for the program’s development and fall launch. “We (Student Affairs) saw an opportunity to create a program for students interested in representing the University at regional, community and on-campus events and thought this program would be a great way to achieve that goal.” She explains that part of that goal is to create a team of student who can assist at commencements, community events, alumni events and with prospective students.

Chosen after an application process that included essay questions and several interviews, several of the new Salus Ambassadors had served in similar roles at their undergraduate institutions. All of the students selected have community service experience and a strong desire to represent Salus.

Since the program’s inception, Salus Student Ambassadors have participated in the fall commencement, Looking Out for Kids Charity Fundraiser, and admissions events.
