Harriet Goodheart has joined the University’s Office of Communications as media relations coordinator. In her role, she will advance the University’s visibility, its programs and clinical services in the region.
Goodheart, who has spent a large portion of her career working in higher education communications, believes the key to building brand awareness in the media lies in a foundational skill.
“Even in this 21st century digital world, at the end of the day, media relations remains grounded in relationships,” she said. “I hope to leverage my network of contacts and my experience in higher education communications to raise the visibility of Salus.”
Prior to joining Salus, Goodheart served as assistant vice president for University Communications at Saint Joseph’s University and director of News and Media Relations at Temple University. She holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan and a master’s degree from Temple University.
Goodheart has always had a passion for working in education and ensuring the local community and media are connected with knowledge leaders.
“Higher education is a lively and often challenging environment,” she said. “I enjoy discovering the expertise that surrounds one in an academic setting and sharing that expertise with targeted audiences.”
Her professional honors include the 2011 Don Hale Award from the College and University Public Relations Association of Pennsylvania (CUPRAP), now the Association of Communicators in Education, and the 2013 Anthony Fulginiti Award from the Philadelphia chapter of the Public Relations Society of America.
