Sydney Mortimer, Optometry

Why did you choose Optometry?

Sydney wearing a PCO sweatshirtI chose Optometry at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry (PCO) because of the strong sense of community and the early clinical exposure the program offers. I had known about Optometry for a while and really appreciated the flexibility and versatility of the profession. As I went through undergrad, I kept finding myself drawn to Optometry and began looking into it more seriously.

When I started researching Optometry schools, I realized I would likely be leaving Florida for the first time, which made me nervous. I was born and raised in Florida, so it was all I knew. But when I interviewed at PCO, I felt comfortable, welcomed, and confident that this environment would truly foster a sense of community. That factor was very important to me and ultimately solidified my decision.

I’m happy to be at PCO and excited to see where this journey takes me!
