Salus president, Dr. Michael H. Mittelman, recently announced Dr. Susan Oleszewski, chief of staff and compliance officer, will transition to the role of vice-president for Institutional Advancement and Community Relations, effective July 1.
For nearly four decades, Dr. Oleszewski has held significant roles at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry (PCO) and Salus. A 1976 PCO graduate and optometrist by trade, she is currently an associate professor and has previously served as associate dean for clinical services, and vice-president for patient care services and executive director at The Eye Institute. Dr. Oleszewski pioneered the University’s “Looking Out for Kids” charity fundraiser, which provides comprehensive vision care and eyeglasses to underserved children in several area school districts.
In his announcement to the Salus community, Dr. Mittelman noted Dr. Oleszewski has created strong ties with University alumni - many of them her classmates and former students, and has cultivated relationships with both corporate and community partners. He cited those ties, as well as her knowledge of the University’s history and traditions, as being “central to our success as an institution.” In her new position, Dr. Oleszewski will oversee the Office of Institutional Advancement, which includes alumni relations and annual giving, the Office of Communications, and University-related functions and events. In her new role, she will be responsible for managing the University’s overall fundraising strategy and community engagement activities in support of the advancement of the University’s mission and strategic plan.
