Taelor-Shanel Sanders, Audiology

Why did you choose Audiology?

headshot of TaelorI chose to study Audiology due to my close relationship with the Deaf community. My mother worked as an American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter, and I was able to develop close relationships with members of the Deaf and hard-of-hearing community. Through these relationships and my deep passion for health care improvement, I began to look into specialties that could be of service to the community and stumbled upon Audiology. I started to shadow and volunteer at my undergraduate university clinic and grew an appreciation for the practice.

I chose to study at Drexel University, Elkins Park Campus, because of the warm, inviting community I met during my tour and email conversations with the faculty. My choice was further solidified when I had my interview and I got to learn more about the campus culture and professor-student relationships. I am now a month into my studies and feel very supported by both faculty and students.
