Why did you choose Audiology?
I chose to study Audiology due to my close relationship with the Deaf community. My mother worked as an American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter, and I was able to develop close relationships with members of the Deaf and hard-of-hearing community. Through these relationships and my deep passion for health care improvement, I began to look into specialties that could be of service to the community and stumbled upon Audiology. I started to shadow and volunteer at my undergraduate university clinic and grew an appreciation for the practice.
I chose to study at Drexel University, Elkins Park Campus, because of the warm, inviting community I met during my tour and email conversations with the faculty. My choice was further solidified when I had my interview and I got to learn more about the campus culture and professor-student relationships. I am now a month into my studies and feel very supported by both faculty and students.
