Ilaria Merone, Speech-Language Pathology

Why did you choose Speech-Language Pathology?

Ilaria in her cap and gownI chose Drexel University, Elkins Park Campus, because I had a gut feeling.

As a first-generation Italian American and first-generation college student, my journey toward earning my degree has always been filled with unknowns and new experiences.

When I was applying for graduate school, I didn't know what to expect, but every interview and tour I attended opened up a new world of possibilities I never would have imagined I was capable of achieving.

When it came time to decide between my top two choices, Drexel (formerly Salus) and another school that I would describe as within my comfort zone, my nerves would tell me to stay where I was comfortable, but every time I'd say to myself, 'I'll go with that school' I had this unshakeable gut and chest feeling that if I walked away from Salus/Drexel, I was going to be missing out on something. I still don't know exactly what that is, but I knew I would be missing out on the opportunity to challenge myself if I didn't step out of my comfort zone.
