Mia Mars, Speech-Language Pathology

Why did you choose Speech-Language Pathology?

Mia wearing a white dressIt was through my grandmother’s experience with a swallowing disorder that I first became aware of the role speech-language pathologists play beyond speech alone. It showed me that communication and swallowing are not just clinical skills, but essential components of dignity, safety, and quality of life. I chose the Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) program because of its strong clinical emphasis and commitment to preparing students to work confidently with complex and diverse real-world cases. I see Drexel University, Elkins Park Campus, as the place where I can develop the knowledge, skills, and compassion needed to care for individuals like my grandmother and advocate for their well-being.
