Tyler Dauchert, Occupational Therapy

Why did you choose Occupational Therapy?

Tyler and friend wearing Philadelphia Flyers jerseysI chose Drexel's Master of Occupational Therapy (OT) program because of its exceptional faculty and facilities, strong National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) exam pass rates, and extensive connections within the Philadelphia area.

During my senior year of college, I had the privilege of observing a Drexel alum and I was impressed by how knowledgeable she was as a recent graduate. Her passion for the profession not only reinforced my belief that I chose the right career path, but also showed me that Drexel would help me reach my goal of becoming an occupational therapist.

I also appreciated how honest, personable, and transparent the faculty and staff were about the expectations of the program during my interview. This was something I did not experience to the same extent with the other programs I interviewed with, and it played an important role in my ultimate decision to attend Drexel.

Additionally, Drexel is an ideal distance from home for me. It allows me to return home when needed while also giving me the independence and freedom to experience life on my own. An important component of Occupational Therapy is the ability to engage in meaningful occupations and activities that bring joy but also fulfillment. One of my favorite occupations is attending Philadelphia Flyers games, and Drexel's close proximity to Xfinity Mobile Arena allows me to continue participating in an activity that is meaningful to me while pursuing my education.
