Why did you choose Optometry?
I chose Optometry after being inspired by all the wonderful optometrists I've connected with over the course of my life. And so, when I was deciding what school I wanted to attend, they were the first I turned to. I was expecting three, maybe two, consensus answers but to my surprise, the Pennsylvania College of Optometry (PCO) emerged as the common thread, connecting all of these doctors together - my pediatric optometrist who saw me since I was five, my optometrist during undergrad at Dartmouth, and both of my childhood best friend's parents - despite being states away from each other, they all chose PCO. Each of them explained how PCO trained them for their future professional careers, both in the classroom and in the clinic, and that they’ve met some of their best friends in the process through the program.
These doctors inspired me through their excellence, capabilities, and knowledge; but I connected with them because of their character, sociability, and compassion. PCO paved the path for them to make an incredible change in my life. Now, I’m a first-year student here at PCO, and I’m eager to one day be the friendly doctor who leads a young future optometrist to their success here.
